As an instructor, I always get these weird old man/woman crushes on writers who I don't even know.
For example, when I was in grad. school, I love Paul Fussell; his Poetic Form and Poetic Meter changed my life. I literally have notes in my copy that say "I <3 P. F."
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I love, love them. It's like I love their words, what I learned from their writing, and how students respond to it.
So right now, since I've been teaching a lot of first-year composition, I have a crush on William Zinsser. I actually wrote a blog about his last week for Grammar Bomb; you can check it out here.
In case you don't want to, here are the graphic highlights.
